The opening night was an instant success with many successful artists performing such as Miles Davis Jr., Dave Brubeck Jr., Mel Lewis Orchestra, Bill Watrous, Jacky Terrasson, Jimmy Heath Big Band Orchestra as well as students from Wayne State University’s School of Music and Dance Department. Since then Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe has hosted many more successful artists including Diana Krall (2009), Buddy Rich (1976), Benny Golson (1980), Stan Getz Quartet with John Scofield (1982) just to name a few.
